In Freestyle skating, or Singles Freestyle skating, a skater can choose to pursue a recreational or competitive approach to figure skating. Participants perform a skating program (usually skated to music) composed of elements such as jumps and spins. This program is designed for the advanced skater who is looking to practice jumps, spins, and take lessons with an instructor. Freestyle ice time is available.

The Basic Skills (Level 1-8) program offers quality instruction at many comprehensive skill levels using the United States Figure Skating guidelines and standards. Professional instructors will conduct classes in a positive atmosphere, making learning to skate a fun experience for recreational, hockey and figure skaters of all ages. Our classes are professionally taught by USFS qualified coaches. The focus of the levels will be on forward skating, backward skating, stops, edges, crossovers and turns. If you're looking for a great start for your child into figure skating or hockey, start with the basics. All students new to the sport of skating should sign up for Basic 1. Skaters will be evaluated the first day of class for class level placement.

The Hockey curriculum is designed to teach the fundamentals of hockey skating. Skaters will learn how to maneuver faster and be more agile on the ice. Proper skating techniques are the primary focus of the levels. Skaters will learn the necessary fundamentals to be successful in game situations. Students will wear full hockey gear and become comfortable skating in hockey equipment. This program is designed for skaters who wish to advance into the Canlan Hockey Academy.
