Canlan Ice Sports Where the experience is everything...
The Canlan Ice Sports Hockey Academy has developed a progression system that helps youths and adults progress towards their training goals.

Each level has been standardized for on-ice content and designed with specific drills to assist participants in their development.

Our instructors have been professionally trained to make your experience a memorable one. If you or your child wish to get a head start on your hockey career or would like to fine tune your skills, the Canlan Ice Sports Hockey Academy has a program for you.
 
 

 

Hockey Fundamentals
 
The Hockey Fundamentals program is designed for players who are new to the game of hockey as well as first year house league players. This program improves overall skills teaching proper technique in power skating, puck control, passing and receiving. The skills introduced allow players to improve their game or provide them with the confidence to join a league. All drills are designed to challenge players in a positive environment.

Powerskating And Hockey Skills
 
Powerskating and Hockey Skills gives house league players extra practice time while assisting in individual skill development. Since hockey is 95% skating, the Powerskating & Hockey Skills program focuses on proper technique and the “how” to practice perfectly in all areas of the forward and backwards stride, edges, stopping and balance. This program also teaches players proper technique in puck control, passing, receiving, and shooting. Players are challenged in a positive environment allowing them to improve their game play.

Speed, Agility And Skills
 
Aimed to improve the individual quickness of players, the Speed, Agility & Skills program is designed specifically for players striving to advance their game play. With a focus on the technical aspects of skating and puck control, this program’s major focuses on agility with and without a puck. Improvement starts with consistent repetition, sweat and a desire to succeed.

Goaltender (Goalie) Training
 
The Goaltender Training Program teaches goalies of all ages the basic skills and techniques required to be successful in this unique and demanding position. Classes will focus on stance, movement, balance, agility, butterfly technique, angles and the most important aspect of being a goalie – skating. Goalies should take this program to prepare for the season or to perfect technique and stay sharp throughout the year.

Intermediate Hockey Skating Skills
 
Designed for Mini-Mite and Mite level players, the Intermediate Hockey Skills program focuses on skating development for those players new to the game. With an emphasis on proper technique and focused around the areas of stride, acceleration, edge work and turning, backwards skating, stops and starts this class will build confidence in the young athlete as the progress through their early hockey careers.
