Youth Programs

IMPORTNANT NOTE - ALL ADULT AND YOUTH ACADEMY CLASSES REQUIRE FULL HOCKEY EQUIPMENT - THIS IS MANDATORY FOR ALL CLASSES!

We are extremely pleased and excited to release our New Youth Program Format for the start of the January 2007 Sessions.

Burnaby 8 Rinks will now be going to age group defined sessions, with age specific programs from Atom to Bantam. We are dedicated and committed to strict age group definitions to ensure every participant is learning and participating with youth of the same age group. The only exception to this rule will be our beginner programs (See below) where strictly skill sets will be taught and encouraged. In addition, we will be offering an Elite program that will involve many high performance techniques and drills. This will be open to Rep players only or participants with permission from myself (Clayton Lode, Head of Hockey Development) or Bob McCuaig (Head Hockey Instructor) with a signed document.

All programs will be a Power Skating and Hockey Skills format. We will be covering off all aspects of the game that will get your participant to the next level. Our programs will cover everything from skating techniques, shooting techniques, how to score, how to defend, and everything in between.  These programs will cover off all aspects a player needs to reach their maximum potential.

You may be asking yourself where your son or daughter goes once a session is done. Players in our programs will be encouraged to repeat each program until they reach another age group, each set of sessions will be taught slightly different to keep the freshness of the drills and enjoyment of the practice while maintaining the same format.

By the way, please remember to visit our Hockey Tips Page, and check out our monthly tip to help improve your game!
