As the premier hockey league in North America, the ASHL is focused on meeting the unique needs of adult recreational hockey players. By offering multiple divisions of play for both men and women, competition is never lacking. The league is professionally managed and officiated through the use of the industry's best rules and regulations. Safe, fun and competitive hockey is our promise to each player. Becoming a member of the ASHL also automatically enters you into the most comprehensive insurance program in the industry. 

Professional League Operations

The ASHL is the only league that operates on a North American scale and has professional hockey personnel operating the league at each facility. Fully qualified and knowledgeable staff manage the ASHL and are available to answer any of your hockey inquiries. Friendly staff is on hand to provide you with the best in adult hockey!

National Rule Book

The ASHL is committed to offering members a consistent and safe hockey experience. At the core is the ASHL National Rule Book that is standard across Canada and the United States. This rule book is designed for use in conjunction with the CHA Rule Book and offers the league members a level of familiarity even if they move to any one of the Canlan Ice Sports facilities or satellite locations.

AD&D Insurance Coverage

A national insurance program offers the most comprehensive insurance package available in adult hockey. Once registered, every player is automatically covered. Each Team Representative is given an insurance booklet outlining the insurance package available to each registered team member. Canadian members are given a pocket size player’s card that provides policy information and a toll free number of the insurance company help line.

Multiple Divisions of Play

The ASHL uses the most equitable system to offers divisions of play for men and women. From the most experienced, skilled hockey player to the most novice beginner level, there is a division of play for everyone.

Division A: Very skilled adult hockey player, have played a serious competitive hockey level hockey in the past, from collegiate, university, semi pro or pro hockey.

Division B: Skilled hockey player, played at a reasonably competitive level of hockey in the past.

Division C: A good hockey player, plays the game for fun and enjoyment, probably has not played previously at a higher level of hockey.

Division D: Has played organized, competitive hockey previously but not at a significant level. Enjoys the game and understands the rules of playing hockey in a team setting.

Old-Timer’s (35+) A-D: Age 35 to 44 and has played at the various levels as listed above.

Old-Timer’s (45+): Age 45 and older and enjoys playing as part of a team game.

Women’s Division, (A-D): Divisions caliber as listed above.

Rec. Division: For the complete Novice hockey player who just wants to play hockey for fun.

Co-Ed Division: Designed for men and women to play hockey in an organized recreational setting, not competitive and generally for the novice hockey player.

There is no better way to improve your team’s performance in the ASHL than to participate in one of the ASHL Member Only tournaments offered to ASHL teams at select locations.
